dance teacher

I saw him standing there
plastered between the walls
of mortal and neutral
 
so, I walked up to him and asked
do you dance
he shuddered with fear
as I led him onto the dance floor
 
his pulse weakened
as we crossed the threshold
and went out the door
 
gazing up
looking at the stars
I said
this is where I learned
how to dance
 
we sat down
gathering prose
from the stars
beating with the murmur of the crowd
 
a slow song started to play
so I gathered his hands
and we receded back into the storm
 
close your eyes I whispered
and move with the twinkling of a cosmos wave
and so we danced in the in-between
of heavens and earth
